Building Inclusive Communities with Employment Source

May 29, 2025 by Drew Smith
Drew Smith, Director of Communications for Copiers Plus, presents Employment Source’s Executive Director, Jason Amorose, and Director of Development, Tara Hinton, with a big check honoring their selection as a 40 Years of Caring winner.

Employment Source, a ServiceSource Affiliate, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to building more inclusive communities through tailored services, resources, and partnerships. Their mission is to support individuals with disabilities—along with their families, caregivers, and broader community—in achieving greater independence and quality of life.

As one of our 40 Years of Caring: Sharing the Love Across NC campaign recipients, Copiers Plus, along with Kyocera, is proud to support their outstanding mission with a $500 donation.

Empowering Individuals of All Abilities

With employment sites in 52 counties across North Carolina, and a primary hub in Fayetteville, Employment Source reached over 3,400 individuals with disabilities in 2024, including more than 700 veterans

Employment Source offers a variety of innovative programs designed to meet individual needs and foster inclusion, such as:

  • Friendship House Fayetteville – Transitional housing for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live alongside mentors, helping them build independent living skills.
  • Warrior Bridge – A veteran-focused initiative offering peer support, job placement, housing resources, home starter kits, and mental health services.
  • Community Inclusion Day Program – Serving more than 30 adults daily with activities focused on daily living skills and community engagement.

These life-changing programs are not just services—they are pathways to dignity, opportunity, and connection.

A Story of Community Transformation

The creation of Friendship House Fayetteville stands as a testament to what’s possible when a community comes together. In just eight months, $1.3 million was raised to build a home for 24 young adults, offering them a safe, supportive environment to grow and thrive. Just the fifth of its kind in the nation, Friendship House Fayetteville is now at full capacity, and last July, Employment Source celebrated the groundbreaking of Friendship House Cottages—a permanent housing solution for graduates of the program, right in their own neighborhood of Haymount.

Why Employment Source Matters

Tara Hinton, who is Director of Development at Employment Source and has a daughter with disabilities, was inspired to get involved by the Friendship House Fayetteville program. She shared a heartfelt endorsement that illustrates the deep, personal impact the organization has had on local families and individuals.

“I know there were many others like my daughter who might not be able to go off to a typical college but could bring plenty to the table as an active community member,” she shared. “Now, in our 6 years of being open, [Friendship House Fayetteville] is at full capacity, and we have witnessed so many lives change because of this opportunity.”

The Power of a $500 Gift

The $500 donation Employment Source received as part of the 40 Years of Caring initiative will provide essential support to core programs like:

  • Outings and materials for the Day Program
  • Transitional support for young adults at Friendship House Fayetteville
  • Employment assistance and housing resources for veterans

Every dollar creates new opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate more fully in life and work.
