Restoring Lives, One Woman at a Time: How Five14 Revolution Support Survivors in NC

Harden Rives (left), Assistant Director, and Executive Director, Amanda Garrett (Right), of Five14 Revolution are presented a check from Drew Smith, Director of Communications with Copiers Plus, honoring them for being selected in the 40 Years of Caring campaign.

Based in North Carolina’s Lower Cape Fear region, Five14 Revolution has been a sanctuary for survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation since 2012. The nonprofit works to restore hope, health, and dignity to women through love, support, and lasting transformation—a mission that is as profound as it is life changing.

Copiers Plus is honored to spotlight Five14 Revolution as part of our 40 Years of Caring: Sharing the Love Across NC campaign. In partnership with Kyocera, the initiative celebrates Copiers Plus’s upcoming 40th anniversary by donating $500 each to 40 incredible organizations that are caring for communities across the state.

A Mission Rooted in Healing and Freedom

Founded on the verse Ephesians 5:14, Five14’s mission is to "prevent human trafficking and sexual exploitation by bringing God's hope, healing, and freedom to women in places of vulnerability." They are guided by a powerful belief: One Woman with Hope is a Start. One Woman with Healing is a Victory. One Woman with Freedom is a Revolution.

Through compassion-driven programming and trauma-informed care, Five14 supports survivors with more than words; they provide direct services such as housing, trauma therapy, access to medical care, transportation, legal aid, education, and more. And their impact continues to grow. In 2023, they assisted 56 women, while that number rose to 94 in 2024.

Programs That Change Lives

Five14 Revolution supports women through two distinct channels: Five14 Restoration House and Five14 Outreach Center.

  • The Five14 Restoration House: A 120-day minimum structured residential program providing a safe, secure environment for healing, recovery, and life rebuilding.
  • The Five14 Outreach Center: A bridge to recovery for women in transitional housing, offering as-needed services and rental assistance at approved partner recovery houses.

Through each approach, women receive trauma-informed therapy, trauma group therapy, access to medical and mental health care, SAIOP, life skills training, educational advancement opportunities, transportation assistance, and legal assistance, all of which are provided at no cost to the women they serve. In addition, a 24/7 crisis hotline and peer-led staff—including women with lived experience—ensure that no call for help goes unanswered, and every survivor is met with understanding.

Journeys That Inspire

There are many stories that demonstrate Five14’s firm belief in the power of “restoration through relationship.” One such story began in October of 2024 when, following an FBI referral, Five14 welcomed a young woman who was withdrawing from fentanyl and burdened with years of exploitation. Thanks to the sanctuary provided by the Restoration House, she now celebrates over 120 days of sobriety and is actively working toward reuniting with her children. Her courage—and the support of the Five14 community—exemplifies the power of second chances.

$500 For Continued Safety and Support

Five14 Revolution currently leases the property used for its residential program. However, they have recently been offered an exciting grant opportunity to purchase a permanent residential facility through the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency’s Supporting Housing Safe (SH-Safe) Program. The $500 donated by Copiers Plus and Kyocera, will be applied toward a 15% fundraising match needed to secure this safe haven—helping Five14 continue offering refuge and restoration for years to come.

"Thank you, Copiers Plus, for your generous $500 grant supporting survivors of human trafficking in New Hanover County,” the Five14 Revolution team expressed. “Your support shines as a light of hope, enabling us to offer hope and healing to those we serve."
